Influence of Lizzo on Social Media
Since Lizzo’s latest album Special was released, Lizzo’s platform has reached more audiences than just members of iTunes and Spotify. Alongside Lizzo’s musical platform, she has succumbed to also having a platform in the athletic wear industry. In April of 2022, Lizzo partnered with Fabathletics to create Yitty, universal shapewear and athletic wear line. Likewise, fans love Lizzo for her platform on TikTok because her videos are relatable, trendy, and funny. In March 2021 Lizzo made one of the most trending dishes in 2021: Nature’s Cereal; before long, people were trying Lizzo’s Nature Cereal too all over TikTok. Not to mention, Lizzo has started many trending TikTok dances to her songs like ‘About Damn Time.’ On November 24, 2022, Lizzo released a movie: Love Lizzo. Love Lizzo follows the path Lizzo took to be where she is today and accounts for years as early as Lizzo’s high school education. Lizzo is not only a pop culture icon but an inspiration by showing body positivity throughout her social media platforms. Lizzo is one of the very few celebrities that truly cares and engages with her audience constantly time after time again. Love Lizzo goes above and beyond audience expectations by showing that Lizzo is not only relatable and entertaining but also grew up struggling with self-confidence, proving to be a relatable icon for fans everywhere. More so, it is compelling to see performers like Lizzo using their platform for good, unlike other performers we have looked at, like Kanye West. I think it shows that society has grown and that people like Lizzo are willing to embrace themselves no matter what. Furthermore, Lizzo is by far one of the most influential celebrities of all time; not only that, but she has shown to really use her platform for the greater good.
